FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: I’m not much of a writer, but my aunt wrote a beautiful story about my cousin. May I submit her story?
A: Yes, as long as it's a true, inspirational story, you have permission to submit it, and it is unpublished. Also, don’t discount your ability to write! If you have a special person who has “touched your life,” find a quiet moment, sit down with a pen and paper or in front of a computer, and then write from your heart. You’ll be amazed at what the heart has to say!
Q: What’s the maximum length of story you can accept?
A: Up to 1,000 words or 7,000 characters (including spaces).
Q: I know photos must be accompanied by a caption. How long can the caption be?
A: Captions can be up to 50 words or 350 characters (including spaces).
Q: Is there a limit to the file size of the photo?
A: We can handle pictures up to 2MB. The picture can be no more than 500 pixels wide. If yours is larger, please resize it and save it to your file before submitting. For a good (and free!) website to resize pictures, click here: Resizer
Q: May I submit more than one story or photo?
A: Absolutely!
Q: How do I know you have received my submission?
A: The easiest and quickest way is to submit online. When submitted online, a confirmation will appear acknowledging receipt. Unfortunately, we are unable to acknowledge submission receipts when submitted via mail or email.
Q: Where might my submission appear?
A: Your submission of a story and/or photo to You Touched My Life implies permission to display either one or both on our website. If chosen for publication in a You Touched My Life or one of its affiliates' publications, you will be contacted for written permission.
Q: How will I know if you select my submission for publication?
A: A permission form will be sent to you via USPS or email. The completed permission form will need to be returned to You Touched My Life in order to be published.
Q: Will I receive any compensation if my story is selected for publication in your book?
A: Contributors whose story is selected for publication will receive $50 (USD) upon publication of the book along with a complimentary copy of the book in which the story appears. (Please keep your contact information updated in our records! Email your former contact information along with updates to submissions@youtouchedmylife.com)
Q: Can can I expect any compensation if my picture, along with the caption, is chosen for publication?
A: Stand-alone pictures, along with their captions, chosen for inclusion in future You Touched My Life or its subsidiaries’ publications will receive a complimentary copy of the book in which the photo appears.
